Matt Baretich has served on the faculty for three weeklong workshops in Latin America (in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Colombia) on clinical engineering and medical technology management. These workshops are sponsored by the Pan American Health Organization and the American College of Clinical Engineering.
He was recently appointed to the World Health Organization (WHO) Technical Advisory Group on Health Technology (TAGHT) and attended a TAGHT meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As part of his TAGHT work he has drafted a manual on corrective maintenance for medical equipment in developing countries.
While in Brazil he was a member of the faculty for a 3-day workshop on risk management for medical technology (II Curso de Trabalho sobre Segurançae Gerenciamento de Risco em Tecnologia Médica) held at the Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo.
