Before establishing Baretich Engineering in 1997, Matthew F. Baretich, P.E., Ph.D., served as Director of Engineering Services for the University of Colorado Hospital (Denver), where he established the facilities engineering program, restructured the clinical engineering program, and managed the safety program. He has also served as the Director of Clinical Engineering for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (Norfolk, Va.), where he established the clinical engineering program.
Dr. Baretich is a registered Professional Engineer, a Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE), a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM). In 2008 he was awarded the Marvin D. Shepherd Patient Safety Award.
Dr. Baretich is a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) Technical Advisory Group on Health Technology, Vice Chairman of the Healthcare Technology Certification Commission, a regular faculty member for ASHE Healthcare Construction Certificate program and the CABMET CBET Study Group, and a Subject Matter Expert for AAMI's Benchmarking Solution.
